I’ll show you white…

(The view from my front stoop.)

This is the most snow we’ve had in the T-Dot all winter, but it ain’t NOTHIN’ compared to what the rest of Southern Ontario and the northeastern United States have been getting. A shame, too, because I could have really gone for a rip-roaring blizzard and the excuse to snuggle at home such as people just west of us have gotten. Reports say upwards of 70cm. Is it wrong to be jealous?

In Valentine’s Day news, my pattern-a-day calendar is telling me to “impress my sweetheart or be the hit of the bridal shower, with this unique knitted thong!” Um. Maybe I’ll pass on that one. And since my sweetheart today will be something in chocolate form, and I have no bridal showers to speak of, I shall look elsewhere for knitting inspiration today 😉

(Also, another of my single friends reminds me that “Yarn loves you and never judges.” I feel that this is a wise mantra.)

I still have the Heart Blanket pattern from Tuesday up because I don’t want to glance over at pictures of a thong several times a day. So true about the yarn not judging.

  2. Happy Valentine’s Day! And to Martha too.

We are having a wicked storm here today. The driving was so bad this morning that I had a small accident – I crashed my car into a cement barrier near one of the big transit way stops. Fortunately only the car was injured, but apparently it is an at fault accident, so it will affect my insurance. 3 hours late for work as well.

So, regardless of whether you have someone to wear a knitted thong for (ouch?), you must be having a better day than me – eating cupcakes and knitting, sounds like a great Valentine’s Day. Remember, these are all commercial events anyway – promoted by greeting card companies and florists, and therefore not very green, so you can also be morally superior. Now you’ll have to excuse me as I go buy a card for my spouse – I wonder if they are going for half price by now. (You know you’ve been married for a while when you wait this late to pick up a card.)

    Love Cathy

  3. OR…knit the thong with really scratchy wool and give it to someone you don’t like. heheh

  4. Hi anonymous – that’s a great idea! Why didn’t I think of that?

Hi Cathy! It is so great to read your comments 🙂 Dang, that sure sucks about crashing the car – stoopid insurance people. And you are wise to remember that this is all simply a commercial holiday. In fact, I overhead a conversation in Shoppers Drug Mart today about just that – a guy was debating whether to buy something for his girlfriend!

Twig – hah! That is so true 😉 I will make note of this the next time i want revenge on someone.

  5. I have the thong up too. Looks like a quick knit, but probably not too comfy.

  6. Thanks, Andrea, I’m glad to know I’m not the only one thinking twice about that thong 😉
