Business as usual

Summer movie season has been going pretty well for my knitting – it means I get to knit the boring socks in my handbag while I watch movies!

Of course occasionally this also means I end up making a terrible dropped-stitch mistake during said experience, and have to fix it afterwards. Actually I feel less bad about this than I do about the lost movie theatre knitting time. This is the kind of strange-ness that happens when you play at this level – remembering that actually not knitting while at a movie theatre is completely normal, Glenna, GOD just enjoy Ghostbusters for the second time like a non-weirdo..

Anyway – it’s cool. I ripped back those 5-6 rows, put the stitches back on the needles, and had them re-knitted in half an hour, and now we’re speeding along again. It’s business as usual around these parts, so business as usual, in fact, that I’m just down to the last 40 granny square borders. Soon we’ll be in sewing-up-the-final-blanket territory, and I can’t wait.

I’m also heading out for 5 days vacation in Halifax & environs this weekend, and have some travel knitting to figure out. But that’s what the last minute is for, right? I’ll grab something enticing from the stash.

Happy knitting this Wednesday! And happy vacation knitting if you’ve got some coming up.

Enjoy Nova Scotia. I’m taking more socks for my flight home to Nova Scotia from visiting family in Yellowknife and Lethbridge.

  2. Have fun on your holiday. If you are anything like me, you’ll end up packing 5x more knitting than you can possibly accomplish in the time allotted. Then, if you’re lucky, you’ll stumble across a local yarn store and buy even more!

  3. have a great trip

  4. have a wonderful trip! socks are pretty – I can see why you want to keep knitting, even in the dark. πŸ™‚

  5. Try LK Yarns and The Loop in Halifax, and Dartmouth Yarns in Dartmouth – all fabulous !!

  6. Ha! I understand what you’re saying about movie knitting. I often find myself thinking, “How do people just sit on the couch and watch TV?”

For how fiddley the stitch pattern on the Jaywalkers is I found that knitting them went quite quickly but I did need to knit them (the leg part at least) using magic loop. I want to buy lots of Lorna’s Laces to knit many many more pairs.

Hope you have a fantastic vacation!!

  8. It’s been hot and muggy here in Halifax this week. Stay close to the water if you can, there’s always a breeze.

  9. I love seeing the socks you are working on. I have quite a stash of Lorna Laces. What is the L’ colorway?

  10. Oh, I love knitting while watching movies too! πŸ˜€ Though we usually do a movie marathon during the weekend with rented dvds or some series on Netflix. I sometimes watch my knitting more than the movie, but still πŸ™‚
